Green Belt in The UK

The size of the Green Belt has more than doubled since 1979 – from 721,500 hectares to 1,634,700 hectares. This is approximately 13% of England and covers one and a half times as much land as our towns and cities added together.

Living in the Green Belt doesn’t mean you can’t explore your permitted development rights! Just keep in mind, though, that Listed Buildings, flats, and maisonettes don’t fall under this scheme. Being in the Green Belt can add a few extra considerations to your project.

Whether you’re buying, selling, or tweaking your land, it’s wise to seek planning advice. Even seemingly small changes like tweaking the land contours could be seen as inappropriate development.
